Listen to Sevendust cover Soundgarden's "The Day I Tried to Live"
Sevendust has premiered a cover of the Soundgarden song “The Day I Tried to Lie.”
The new recording, the first from the Atlanta metallers in two years, is accompanied by a video showing a solitary figure walking down a lonely road, cut with footage of the band playing live back when that was a thing. You can watch it now streaming on YouTube.
“Soundgarden is such an important band to all of us in Sevendust and this love for them goes all the way back to when we were starting,” says frontman Lajon Witherspoon.
“When I first heard [‘The Day I Tried to Live’], I thought the lyrics were timeless,” Witherspoon adds. “The lyrics are about trying to experience new things and change the way you live, and we see examples of that every day with what is happening around the world. To have the chance to cover this song and release it is so special to all of us. Thank you, Chris Cornell and Soundgarden.”
Sevendust’s most recent album is 2018’s All I See Is War.
