Of Mice & Men's Aaron Pauley undergoes surgery; band cancels more dates

Courtesy Rise RecordsAfter Of Mice & Men canceled a number of headlining tour dates due to an unspecified “medical emergency” earlier this week, the band has now revealed that vocalist/bassist Aaron Pauley had to undergo “immediate surgery.”

“The surgery was performed yesterday without incident, and the issue is currently being evaluated,” the Southern California metallers wrote in a statement posted Thursday.

Doctors have advised Pauley that he requires a minimum of two weeks’ recovery time. As such, Of Mice & Men has now canceled all dates until an April 27 stop in Houston. That includes the first part of their run opening for Beartooth, kicking off April 15 in Quebec City.

In his own statement, Pauley writes, “Thank you all for the understanding and support! I’ll be able to share more info in the future, but just know that I’m safe, healthy, happy, and on the mend!”

In March, OM&M canceled a show after Pauley was admitted to the hospital due to an unspecified health scare. It’s unclear whether that issue is related to Pauley’s need for surgery this week.

Of Mice & Men, sadly, does have experience with lead singers and health problems. The band had to cancel a number of tour dates due to ex-frontman Austin Carlile‘s battle with Marfan syndrome. Carlile eventually left the band due to his health.
